leopard security config.jpgFor you security buffs out there, Apple has released a ginormous, 240 page PDF on Leopard security configurations. It’s aimed toward the experienced Mac OS X user who is familiar with the user interface and has some experience with Terminal’s command-line interface.

The guide provides an overview of features in Mac OSX that users can use to enhance security, a process Apple fondly refers to as “hardening your computer”. Its 13 chapters range in topic from protecting system hardware and securing global system settings, to avoiding multiple simultaneous account access and ensuring data integrity with backups.

Whatever you decide to use it for, make sure you follow all the instructions to a T, lest you risk “serious adverse effects on (your) computer and its security”. Yikes.

Check it out (PDF link), and let the computer hardening commence!
