Another day of MOLB

Posted by Derik DeLong | Thursday, January 04, 2007 5:23 AM PT

Pwnies That’s not a typo. Given the bugs presented so far, MoAB has turned into kind of a farce, or Month of Lame Bugs. Where are all these hard hitting Mac specific bugs? Yesterday’s attempt is another Quicktime bug, an already known Quicktime bug. While it’s good to remind us about it, we already know about it.

First, a vulnerability in a third-party, cross-platform program, now an already known vulnerability? Are they starting slow on purpose? I’m beginning to think this must be part of a devious plan to lure bloggers into early criticism only to turn around at the month with actually serious, really Mac OS X related issues and crow “I told you so”. I’m thinking that’s about the maturity level that lmh is resting comfortably at.

Now here’s the kicker for extra chuckles. Their demonstration code (for a cross-zone scripting attack) relies upon the use of Windows Internet Explorer. Where’s my rimshot? I’m either going to have to stop updating you on this or apply the humor tag. Try the steak. Apparently I’ll be here all month.

The BBC are covering the MoLB today. This is a quote from the BBC story,

"The plan is to only publicise flaws that have never been found before."

So they've already failed in that plan.

Remember, it's called "Month of Apple bugs" not "Month of OSX bugs" so the two QT bugs would fit in with that.

Still, I agree it's pretty lame so far. The VLC issue produced a "uhh?" from me.

That was awesome. I've been laughing at this thing for days. Glad to see I'm not the only one.

So later this month we can expect some serious "back door" action from Kevin Finisterre and LMH? Can't wait.
