When will we run out of Microsoft Zune puns? If you guessed “never,” you’re right on target. Think of the possibilities: I can do Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me to the Zune” or talk about a “Zune wedding” or…um…okay, I’m dry.
The latest news on the Zune is less about what Microsoft’s hotly anticipated media player can do, and more about what it can’t do. You see, although the closest thing to a killer feature that the Zune boasts is the integrated Wi-Fi, it only allows you to share music with other Zune users nearby. There will be no Wi-Fi syncing with your computer, and no ability to purchase music over the Wi-Fi connection. Can you say “missed opportunity?” I knew you could!
I think the Penny Arcade boys have hit upon the key weakness of the song-sharing feature: what if your friends’ music sucks? I mean, I’m pretty sure nobody wants to listen to my immense collection of music soundtracks, classical concertos, and TV theme songs. Right?
