I first hear about the Flip4Mac Windows Media plugin when I read an article about it in a Mac Gems review. It looked great and all the user reviews seemed positive, beating Microsoft’s own player.
Finally, Microsoft has thrown in the towel. They’ve outsourced the development of the player for their own multimedia format to Telestream (developers of Flip4mac). That’s good news for us as the 2.0 version of the player is now free. It is a sad state of affairs when Microsoft can’t even write a good player for their own format.
