Dell, via Alienware, goes iMac

Area 51 5400 The original Mac form factor has been popular for imitation. The iMac itself is even an copycat. The latest to follow in the trend is Alienware’s Area 51 5400. It features the same Core Duo processor, though they opted for an Nvidia GeForce Go 6600 graphics processor. It also includes built-in 802.11a/b/g and Bluetooth.

However, this PC does have some very compelling features that would make worthy additions to the iMac. In particular, there’s an optional TV tuner, HDMI output, and my favorite, an optional two-hour battery. While its not practical to make use of this feature regularly, it does make perfect sense for use as a UPS (uninterruptible power supply). It’s really smart to use one and I wouldn’t object if Apple made it a standard part of the computer.

While the Wintel world finally figured out there is a market for all-in-one's, I wonder how much of it will be taken up by bloat (i.e. "every computer needs PCI slots, even though few really use them")
