A new report out from the good folks at NPD Group says that while AmazonMP3 is on the rise, it hasn’t at all taken a bite out of iTunes’ success.
iTunes recently became the number one of music retailers worldwide (beating out Wal-Mart), while Amazon says that it comes in number two in the number of single tracks downloaded.
Is Amazon nipping at Apple’s heels? Maybe.
Or maybe not: That’s not to say that Amazon is close to Apple in sales. According to NPD, iTunes digital music sales are still 10 times that of AmazonMP3 on a unit basis.
