Apple made news on both the hardware and software fronts during Monday’s Worldwide Developers Conference keynote, releasing an new Intel-based high-end desktop and previewing the next major update to OS X. And we’ve got highlights of both announcements in this episode of the Macworld podcast.
The newly announced Mac Pro features two dual-core Xeon processors running at speeds of up to 3GHz. The Mac Pro’s arrival marks the completion of Apple’s transition to Intel-supplied processors for its hardware offerings.
The podcast also features audio highlights of some of the new features slated for OS X 10.5. The update, code-named Leopard, is scheduled for a spring 2007 release. Among the features you’ll hear about in the podcast are Time Machine, a new automated backup capability, and an update to the VoiceOver text-to-speech feature.
