Apple releases digital camera

quicktake.jpgWhat if I told you Apple released a digital camera? Would you believe me? No, probably not. Now, what if I told you Apple released a digital camera 12 years ago? Would you believe me then? Yes, probably you would, otherwise why would I make a point of writing this post?

Little known fact: in 1994, Apple released the QuickTake digital camera with 640 x 480 resolution. There were three versions of the camera, the 100 and the 150, which were built by Kodak, and the 200, which was built by Fuijfilm. The 100 and 200 models were only compatible with the Apple Macintosh computer, while the 150 was compatible with both Apple and Windows machines. The QuickTake was discontinued in 1997 when cameras by Kodak, Fujifilm, Canon, and Nikon started to gain consumers attention. Today, the Apple QuickTake can be bought on eBay for the current price of about $20.

i REALLY hope i'm not just being an idiot and doing my math wrong, but i'm pretty sure 1992 was a little over 13 years ago.

Haha, right you are Scott. Actually, it really was 12 years ago that Apple released the camera. I simply got the date wrong. The camera was released in 1994; Apple started developing the camera in 1992. My bad!
