As my disillusionment with Disco continues to soar, I can still say that I’m a fan of its looks. To that end, I found this post about the design of Disco’s icon. It’s really pretty fascinating. Posted on the blog of Jasper Hauser, the man behind the icons of pretty much every app of the Delicious generation, it makes me wonder: if the people who developed the feature set of Disco put half this much thought into their program, would it have met the hype?
Jasper’s blog is full of interesting tidbits (check out his description of the Xtorrent icon design process). Icon design is not usually the part of the development process that takes the headlines, and to see some insights into how much thought and work it takes to create an effective icon is a neat perspective.
