As they do every year, Time Magazine is publishing their list of the Most Influential People of the Year. They want to know who you think should take home the prize, suggesting you read through the 200 candidates and rate them. The real fun, though, is seeing who’s leading the pack right now.
Apple, you guessed it, is well represented: Steve Jobs currently holds the #14 spot, and Jonathan Ive comes in at #22. What’s a little surprising is that Apple’s rock-star CEO has a better rating than Bill Gates and George W. Bush. He is beaten, however, by Stephen Colbert, J.K. Rowling and Bono. Finally, we can pretty much confirm Jobs wants to be U.S. president one day: he does better than both Al Gore, who’s just behind him, and Barack Obama, a spot later. Spooky.
As for design genius Jon Ive, his #22 spot gives him enough influence to beat Nelson Mandela, Brad Pitt, and many more. If you want to encourage those two guys, you can vote for Ive here and for Steve here.
Also, please keep in mind that the rankings are shifting pretty dramatically, so this post is already obsolete. There. Don’t come crying in the comments saying Bill Gates now has a better score than Steve.
