Apple has finally revealed the official grand opening date of New York City’s 5th Avenue Apple Store. The store, dubbed “Mecca” by fans because of it’s giant cube entrance that was once covered by a black veil, is set to open at 6:00 PM EST on Friday, May 19th. As with most Apple Store grand openings, the first people to come to the 5th Avenue Apple Store will get free t-shirts, prizes, and other cool stuff. Of course, there will almost positively be a huge line for getting into the store, so if you want to go to the grand opening, expect to camp out for at least two days. Still, the chance to go to Apple’s new 25,000 square foot underground store is pretty darn cool. As MacUser’s resident New Yorker, I’ll hopefully be able to go to the store and post about it by Saturday. Whether I make it out alive is another story.
