Meet Hubert

HubertHave you heard of Hubert? He’s (or is it a she?) been popping up in all corners of the Mac-centric parts of the internet. Until today, Hubert’s true nature was a mystery. It has since been revealed that this is the latest viral marketing campaign masterminded by Phill Ryu, the 18 year old Mac impresario behind My Dream App. Since Hubert’s cameos on the websites of a few Mac shareware heavyweights, the Mac community has been abuzz with rumors concerning the whole affair. After all, Hubert is built for buzz, and while it’s difficult to induce speculation by the Mac community, it seems that Phill Ryu and Co. may just have some success.

So the question now is, “What is Hubert?” Well according to an entry on Phill’s blog, Hubert is related to “Act 2” after My Dream App. Called MacHeist, it seems to be something new to keep us all on the edge of our seats. Currently, MacHeist is invite only, so I honestly can’t tell you what the dickens it all means. However, I found My Dream App to be a worthwhile click from time to time, and I imagine this will provide the same sort of fun, sans the digg exploitation. Time will tell though, and once we hear it, you will too.

Just to make you jealous, I got my invitation email this morning :) If you do get, you should keep the secret though... That's where all the fun is!

Just to alleviate your frustration, let me tell you that it will be a fun way to get free stuff...

Unless there are multiple shadownights wandering around in the Mac community (a possibility which seems highly unlikely), I actually witnessed you receive your invite via Phill's blog. Let me tell you this: my usual pale complexion has taken on a hue of envious green.

Seriously though, that's very cool, and if you feel the desire to offer any more tips (or an invite if at all possible), you know where to find us. :)
