It’s here! It’s finally happened. It’s, it’s…The Disney Channel? Yes, today the very first full-length movie is on iTunes, and it’s from The Disney Channel. The movie is called High School Musical, which is a made-for-TV movie about, well, a high school musical. It may be no Crash or Brokeback Mountain, but it’s still a good first step for movies on iTunes. The movie costs only a $1.99, which is a pretty sweet deal considering that the whole movie is an 1h 39m long and 487 MB in filesize. Hopefully this means that Apple will soon be releasing more movies on iTMS (April 1st announcement?), or it could just mean a Apple’s trying to tighten their already very close relationship with Disney. Let’s just hope that if there are more movies on the way, they’re not all from Disney.
UPDATE: It appears that after being taken down for a while, High School Musical is now going for a reasonably more expensive price of $9.99. Maybe sales of the movie on iTMS were pretty low. What do you expect, it’s a Disney Channel movie?
