Apple Turns 30; Nothing Happens

Happy 30th Birthday! It’s finally the big day. Apple turns the big 3-0. Wow, it seems like only yesterday, we were sending little Apple off to their first day of pre-school, with a Transformers lunchbox and a My Little Pony thermos (we like to mix and match). And now, well, Apple’s all growzed up. Yes, indeed. Um, growed up. Yeah.

Okay, you got us. We have bupkis. Thus far (until further notice), there’s not been a peep out of Cupertino. I, for one, don’t expect to hear one today. Am I disappointed? Sure. Surprised? Not really. With all the foofaraw over the March announcement of the Intel Mac mini and the iPod Hi-Fi, you can bet your sweet monochromatic lifestyle that had Apple intended to announce something today, we would have been warned. Well warned.

Some say there’s no such thing as bad publicity. I’m not sure that hearing about someone finding a finger in their BigMac is going to make people crave McDonald’s, but in this case, Apple loses nothing. Well, except for possibly customers driven to rash acts due to their crushed dreams. Here’s hoping that Chris Stevens is still among the living. As for me, well, I’m still smug over getting to use “bupkis” and “foofaraw” in the same post. It’s like blogger bingo…

They sure as hell did release something. A Beatles iPod. That is not nothing.
