Apple Online Store goes down; mass hysteria ensues

You know what we haven’t witnessed in a while? That yellow sticky note on the Apple Online Store daringly turning away eager customers and simultaneously sending them into a frenzy of excitement.

Well, if you’d started missing it, you’ll be glad to know that the store is down right now and the iconic sticky is back in place to tide things over for the next couple of hours or so. And it’s a Tuesday too, just in case you hadn’t realized it yet.

So what do you expect it to be? MobileMe going online (though I’m unsure why that would warrant taking down the store, given that it is already available for purchase)? Or… well, I’m out of ideas already. Maybe it’s just routine maintenance after all.

^^ Heh heh! Only in the mac world can this happen!

As for the reason, could it be that they actually took it down for 'maintenance'?

I show the store as being up at 7:25 CDST. I don't see anything obvious as being changed nor do I see any "new" tags. Maybe they just did maintenance

There is a little icon that says "NEW" iPhone 3G. Maybe that's what they were doing....? Maybe?

Itunes 7.7 required for Iphone 3G, sounds like something to look forward to.

Definitely working again now, but I've got to hand it to Apple for at least being entertaining about their maintenance downtimes. Kudos!
