If, after Derik’s post yesterday about Linkin Park playing at an Apple event, your head danced with images of a new special edition iPod produced in conjunction with the alt rock band, I’m afraid I’ll have to burst your cartoon thought bubble. The band did in fact jam in the Soho Apple Store at midnight today, playing a brief six song set which was recorded for posterity by Apple, and ought to make its way onto the iTunes Store. According to Billboard, the audience was comprised of industry personnel and contest winners. Which, clearly, makes the rest of us losers.
In the meantime, if you want to feel like a winner, Apple’s posted a high-quality video from the event. Linkin Park isn’t the first band to play the Soho store; previous featured acts have included Simian Mobile Disco and The New Pornographers.
Billboard also cites sources suggesting that additional A-list acts (is Linkin Park considered A-list? Really?) will also play at the Apple Store in the near future. My fingers are crossed for Engelbert Humperdinck.

Maybe we are not LOSERS but, in fact, winners! I mean, come on; it is Linkin Park! They blow big time.
Apple should have asked the New Pornographers to return and do an extended encore!
