I know the thought’s been foremost in your brain for the last month, so I wanted to set it at ease with the latest on the MacUser redesign. You may recall that we launched our endeavor in April, with the plan of looking at the design submissions in May. You may also notice that this didn’t happen—nothing gets by you, readers.
The truth is, the staff took a look at the designs we received as well as the comments offered by readers on our original thread, and we came to a conclusion: people seem to like our design pretty well the way it is. Even a few of the submissions we received were basically slight updates to the site.
Well, here at MacUser, it’s you, the readers, who have to stare at the site all day long (after all, it compels you), so we make it our business to give you what you want. We plan to make some small tweaks to the design in coming weeks, but overall we plan on keeping the general feel of our site for the time being.
I’d like to extend a huge thank you to all who took the time to put together and submit designs. We enjoyed seeing what you came up with, and we very much appreciate the effort you put into your submissions. Thanks!
We now return you to your regularly scheduled Mac blog.
Redesign? Count me in.
"we make it our business to give you what you want"
Really? How about widgets on the site? Celebrity apple sightings? 24 hr Paris in jail webcam? When the multitouch macbooks arrive, how about scratch and sniff posts?
On a serious note. How about running a commenter post of the week. Let one of us run a post an a weekly basis (or monthly). I can write me some mean posts... :)
Wait a second, is the background supposed to be white?
I'm glad to hear the design is going to remain basically the same. I've looked at a lot of blogs, and the clean look of this layout has always been one of my favorites.
