MacUser Podcast #8: Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue

Posted by Dan Moren | Monday, November 06, 2006 2:05 PM PT

MacUser PodcastJust when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, it’s another episode of the MacUser Podcast. We’re running the gamut this week—or is it the gauntlet? What the heck, we’re running both the gamut and the gauntlet this week, as we discuss topics ranging from our memories of OS 9 to the new iPod shuffles, with stops at the Macarena virus and Core 2 Duo MacBook Pros. And be sure not to miss Scott and I taunting Derik about our new iPod nanos. It’s a keeper.

Also, as I mention at the end of the show, we’re trying something new by answering your Mac questions on the next podcast. So, if you have a query or interrogative, send it along to us at the email address below.

Show notes after the jump…

The Blue Snowball I refer to in the intro is, of course, the Blue Snowball USB microphone that I’m using.

The silly article that alludes to the viruses accidentally shipped on iPods as interest in the Mac platform by hackers was from MacNewsWorld.

John Gruber’s piece on Soundbooth is long and very in depth but, as always, excellent.

Jon Seff of Macworld weighed in on the 3GB memory limit of the Core 2 MacBook Pros.

The headphone jack/USB device Scott alludes to is Thought Out’s concept “KEY” device.

It was ZDNet, and not MacNN, that had an article on the “camera” functionality in the patent for the iPod’s touch-sensitive bezel.

Again, comments are welcome and encouraged. Drop them in the thread below or send an email.
