Oh no you didn’t! Macbook owners suing Apple for shutdown issues

Posted by Aaron Freedman | Thursday, October 12, 2006 4:30 PM PT

Macbook-Release2 Apple, Apple, Apple. When you do something right, you get tons of praise, but when you mess up, well, you better make sure you have enough for lawyers’ fees. It seems that angry MacBook owners are organizing a class action lawsuit against Apple for the random shutdown issues occurring on their Macbooks. Well Apple, you’ve done it. You’ve taken an issue that should have been relatively easy to fix, but instead ignored it and are now paying the price with a lawsuit. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Haven’t you already learned your lesson from the iPod battery and nano scratching incidents? Well, I guess not. Then again, in Apple’s defense, they did replace MacBook heat sinks, but that still wasn’t enough. Better luck next time.

Apple has acknowledged this since last month, at least. Note the following Apple support document authored September 1st:

Also, they are repairing the affected MacBooks at Apple stores. (My friend with one took hers in two days ago and had no trouble getting it repaired.)
