iTunes 7 was kind of a must-have at this event, but aside from the obvious (movie downloads that have not yet materialized), nobody was certain what it would include. Well, it appears that Apple has taken a liking to the graphical nature of cover art, so they’re offering to let you download any missing art from the iTunes Music Store (one assumes this will somehow be tied into the CDDB information since the question in my mind is “what about stolen music…can people get cover art for that?). You’ll be able to browse your collection via cover art (grouped by album) or with an interface called Cover Flow View.
The bigger news here is in video though. Having apparently heard the complaints of those who dislike the 320x240 resolution, Apple’s upping the resolution of available videos to 640x480, fullscreen. Most notable though, is that this is not a widescreen resolution, which is odd since all of Apple’s current products ship with widescreen displays. Except of course the iPod.
Another fantastic feature that Apple has enabled is the ability to transfer music between computers via an iPod. Thus, if you own more than one computer that is authorized to the same iTunes account, you’ll be able to plug your iPod into it and have the option of your content “flowing back.” I can’t wait to see how this works; that’s pretty killer.
And now…movies…
