I can say that after the update, was the first time that apps purchased or updated on my iPhone automatically transferred over to iTunes during the sync.
I can tell you one thing it's apparently fixed that I haven't seen mentioned... iTunes 7.7 never backed up any apps that were purchased and downloaded directly to my iPhone 3G... FINALLY they are getting backed up! phew...
