McCartney’s new album, full discography coming to iTunes

Paul McCartneyI ask you: can you have too much Paul McCartney news? I don’t think so. Truth is, once upon a time Paul was my favorite of The Beatles. I can’t tell you why—that reason has been lost to the fog of time—but I can tell you that he was later replaced as my favorite by Ringo, the only Beatle brave enough to consider playing the part of a tiny railroad conductor (Paul would never have done that).

Anyway, as we reported last week, Sir Paul’s next album, “Memory Almost Full,” will be his first available on iTunes—it’s also going to be an iTunes exclusive. It’ll be available in two versions on June 5th, standard and deluxe (three bonus tracks), and you can pre-order it today (iTunes link) and get the single for free. Plus—and this is the real kicker for me—pre-ordering the full album in the US will net you the music video of the song “Dance Tonight,” directed by Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) and featuring Natalie Portman. Unfortunately, those outside the US must weep into their Portman-less computers to the sad strains of the acoustic version of “Dance Tonight.”

McCartney’s label, EMI, will also be bringing the entirety of the former Beatle’s solo works to iTunes, comprising 25 albums. We presume that since it’s EMI, there will be the option to buy the tracks DRM-free. Speaking of which…it is May, isn’t it?

A Natalie Portman tag? LOL! Apparently you plan to discuss her a lot.

McCartney's catalog is perfect for iTunes because many of his albums tracks range from mediocre to terrible. With iTunes, you can finally just pick the tracks that aren't bad and leave the rest behind without having to pay for them.
