The land that brought us Peter Jackson, the tuatara, and some very nice people I’ve met on bus trips has finally got some return on their investment. Apple yesterday launched both an iTunes store and online Apple Store for New Zealand. Prices for New Zealanders are NZ$1.69 for singles, NZ$3.59 for music videos, and most albums at NZ$17.99, which is only slightly more expensive than the US prices for the same.
The New Zealand store will also carry exclusive tracks from artists such as Fat Freddy’s Drop, Brooke Fraser, Tim Finn, The Datsuns and Bic Runga, as well as the catalogues of several other New Zealand artists. It occurs to me that I’m not sure I’ve ever listened to a New Zealand band, so perhaps now is the time to start.
The Apple Store will include the (PRODUCT) RED iPod nano among the usual offerings. In related news, North Korea is still out of luck.
