As the fall TV season gets under way in the U.S., the TV shows section of the iTunes Store has burst into life. There are loads of new shows (Smallville was the one that really caught my eye), more than ten free HD episodes to download, and pre-air premiere episodes available just on the iTunes Store. Much of it is NBC content, thanks to the recent kiss-and-makeup, but even the overall feel of the store seems to have undergone a facelift.
Anyway, what I’m really excited about is the fact that the iTunes Store is currently offering pre-air premiere episodes of two of my most favorite, and very underrated, shows as free downloads. Although Chuck is only available in SD (why, NBC, why?), Life can be grabbed in HD as well. Both these episodes and several other season premieres are also freely viewable on the NBC-backed Hulu service.
Chuck is not available in HD because Warner Bros (look always at the studios, not the broadcaster) is not in the game. HD is available from NBC Universal, ABC, CBS and recently from Showtime.
