As music fan, connecting a pre-order album sale to pre-sale concert tix seems like a no-brainer. The hardcore fans get music, and tickets, and Bob Dylan and his entourage rakes in the cash, so everyone wins. This begs the question: why aren’t more groups doing this on iTunes?
That said, as for the $200 for the box set? I love Dylan, but I don’t love him that much. Still, when you think about it, $0.25 for a Dylan song is a bargain.
Columbia Records and Apple will offer legendary musician Bob Dylan’s new album as an exclusive digital pre-order the companies announced this week. Customers that pre-order will also have the opportunity to participate in an exclusive Ticketmaster pre-sale for concert tickets to select dates on Bob Dylan’s upcoming fall tour.
The new album “Modern Times” is available for pre-order now and costs $13.99. Apple also made available a special Bob Dylan box set called “The Collection” that is being made available for $199 and can be downloaded beginning on August 29. The box set will have almost 800 tracks according to Apple.
I’ve just put in my pre-order.
