Analysts prognosticating once again: more movies

iTunes Store Movies Piper Jaffray & Co. analyst Gene Munster tells us that two major Hollywood studios will buckle under the awesome power of the iTunes Store and start selling their wares after the holiday season. Why after? They don’t want to further irritate the very touchy Wal-Mart and Target chains.

Other studios say they’re ready to sign up within six months, but they want some pricing tweaks. Have they learned nothing? Customers don’t want the pricing touched. Eventually, the record labels all went along with Apple’s original pricing structure. Besides, Apple already has somewhat variable pricing on movies (sometimes more variable than others). Considering what you get ordering online, I see this as more greed from one of the most profitable industries in America.

They really need to start giving their customers the respect they deserve and get their content onto my iPod, my computer, and eventually, my iTV.
