American Idol comes to the iTunes store

While NBC is still sulking in its virtual corner (otherwise known as Hulu.com), Fox is embracing iTunes and signing more deals to bring its content to the Internet. This time, they concluded an interesting offer with Apple to offer audio and video performances from the famous reality show American Idol.

Well, this would be interesting if I were remotely interested in American Idol. I’m not.

For those who are, individual performances will run you the usual $0.99 in audio form, while the videos, priced at $1.99, will only be available for the Top 12 contestants, starting in March. Check out this page (iTunes link) for all the juicy details.

To me, this seems like a smart way to use iTunes (read: a smart way for Fox and Apple to make more money). But hey, this is quite convenient for Idol fans too, so everyone’s happy.
