ParamountLast minute rumor proved true as Steve Jobs announced at the Macworld keynote that Paramount Pictures would join the iTunes Store as the second provider of downloadable movies.

“We’re thrilled because they have some awesome movies: Tomb Raider, Patriot Games, Star Trek, Red October, School of Rock,” [Jobs] said.
Seriously, Tomb Raider?

Honestly though, the Star Trek franchise alone will probably bring in some serious cash, though enthusiasm may be somewhat dampened if the first available title of the series is the William Shatner-directed Star Trek V. Paramount also distributed Indiana Jones but director Steve Spielberg has in the past made comments about not wanting his movies to be watched on iPods.

As of this writing, Paramount titles don’t seem to have been added to the iTunes Store yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
