Wikinews Print EditionThe iTunes Music Store has conquered the mediums of television and music (except for the Beatles). With the audio and the video markets secure, there remains still the medium before which all other mediums must pay obeisance.

The written word.

But that’s hardly a challenge for the likes of Apple. Given that PDF liner notes have long been distributed with some music albums via iTMS, it should come as no surprise that Apple has moved into the text subscription market. The first vendor? Wikinews. The free-content news source has made a PDF version of its daily print edition available as a free iTunes subscription (iTunes link). At the moment, it’s under the podcast section, but who knows? If it catches on, you might see a separate iTMS division in no time. Now, what to call it? Textcasting?

PageCasting?

That sounds dumb, but if you don't think about the actual meaning of the words, as many people don't (The Beatles = little crawly bugs; iPod = some type of small vessel with an 'i' infront of it; Google = ...are you joking me?; anyway, you got it), it doesn't sound that bad.
