No, no, Apple didn’t come out with a 3-inch laptop (I can already hear the boos). But iPod owner Owen McGarry did: he turned his 5G iPod into a very small laptop. He describes the process:
I took it apart. I cut the frame and the body in half, I kept only the screen and the hold switch/battery/headphones module in the top half. The bottom half held the hard drive and the mother board.Unfortunately, the screen can’t bend much more than the 45° angle shown here, because the wires connecting it to rest of the hardware are too short. Still, it looks quite snazzy like that. And since it can run Linux, Owen has no problem calling it a laptop—meet iTop.
