Yeah, it’s hot. Scorching. And not just in sales, but in actual warmth. In fact, the iPod nano is so hot, that one man claims it caught fire while in his pants.
Danny Williams works at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which complicated the situation when his two year old iPod nano apparently caught on fire and started smoking, sending fire as high as his chest for about fifteen seconds. “If TSA had come by and seen me smoking, they could have honestly thought I was a terrorist,” Williams has said. On the upside, flaming pants are well known to be a hit with the ladies. Meanwhile, Apple’s asked Williams to send the iPod back so they can examine it; they’ve promised to send him a new one.
Now, the fire could certainly have been caused by problems with the nano’s lithium-ion battery, a technology which has been blamed for plenty of smoking laptops, though it’s the first widely reported incident of an iPod catching fire. But while we’re not inclined to call Mr. Williams a liar, it is unfortunate that his pants were, in fact, on fire.

I wonder if he still had the oem battery, or was it replaced with a cheap 3rd party one.
