NYU students say they would trade their vote for an iPod touch

Ok, yes, we’re a little late to the party on this one, but apparently last month, New York University ran a real, honest-to-god scientific poll showd that 20 percent of those surveyed would exchange their right to vote in the 2008 presidential election for an iPod touch.

Out of the 3,000 undergrads polled, “66 percent said they’d forfeit their vote for a free ride to NYU. And half said they’d give up the right to vote forever for $1 million.”

To be fair, the study also showed:

Ninety percent of the students who said they’d give up their vote for the money also said they consider voting “very important” or “somewhat important”; only 10 percent said it was “not important.”

By this logic, maybe an iPod shuffle would do the trick in a municipal election?

I saw this last week myself, and wonder, do you think Al Gore has seen it?

I bet he gets a heck of a discount at the company store...

Just sayin'.
