New iPod touch, classic as well

ipodback.jpgSo it’s been a veritable iPod-tastic morning. While the nanos are clearly the sweetest little things in today’s lot, we can’t ignore their older brothers, now can we?

Here’s the iPod touch, from the Macworld crew’s report: “It looks a lot like the iPhone. Same tapered back. Looks like it has external volume control. And it’s apparently even thinner than the last. Same 3.5” display; integrated volume controls, which was the #1 request they got (including Mr. Frakes); accelerometer; wireless network; built-in speaker (really hard with something this thin—“It’s for casual listening; this is not for audiophiles.”); Genius playlist creation; and the App Store built-in.”

Battery life is reported at 36 hours of audio or 6 hours of video. And Apple appears to have taken a hint on that Greenpeace campaign, as both the touch and the nano are apparently “arsenic-free, BFR-free, Mercury-free, PVC-free, and highly recyclable.”

Price of the new touch is as follows: 8GB goes for $229; 16GB for $299; 32 GB for $399. All available starting today.

And, if you really need a big, honkin’ thick iPod classic, you can pickup the new 120GB version for $250.

Enjoy.

I'm bummed with the iPod Classic. "120 GB"?! Why did they kill the 160GB one!

I have 115 GB of music (this doesn't include TV shows/Podcasts/Movies/Book)!!!

Uhm, is that a recessed headphone jack on the new touch?

So they killed the fat iPod Classic. It used to be the fat iPod had more storage and longer battery life, did they improve the battery life on the 120 GB? That would be the best of both worlds. Thinner and longer lasting.
