Just think different

Nike+iPodI need a new pair of running shoes. Badly. So when I read today that Nike and Apple are partnering up, well, I decided that I would just jog over to Nike’s site and take a look.

The new Nike+iPod Sport Kit is made up of a sensor that goes into your Nike running shoe, and a small receiver that attaches to your iPod nano. The sensor transmits information to the receiver which collections information about your run (distance, time, pace, and calories burned), and which is then relayed to you via the headphones. You can also see a summary displayed on the nano’s screen at the end of the run. When you get home, you can sync this data with Nike’s website, and track your progress. The Nike website even lets you invite up to 50 friends to either compete against or team up with.

I suppose $29 isn’t bad for the sensor kit, but you do also have to pay $100 for the shoes that include the hidden pocket for the sensor. A small price to pay, I guess, for good health!
