iPod shuffles put some color in their cheeks

Color iPod shufflesWe interrupt this run-of-the-mill Tuesday to bring you breaking news of the utmost importance. Apple’s iPod shuffle is now available in colors. The impact of this announcement will no doubt be felt the world over. No longer will shuffle fans be constrained to the stolid silver exterior: now they can express their music tastes and coordinate their fashion sense with their hip duds.

“When we designed the new shuffle we entered into a new space of fashion — the idea that you can wear it in your favorite color is a great extension,” Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, told Macworld.
As long as your favorite color is silver, pink, blue, green, or orange. And yet Apple’s missing the goth market by making the shuffle the only of their three models not available in basic black.

The shuffle colors look pretty much like the nano colors; there’s orange instead of black or red, leaving the door open for an iPod Shuffle Special Edition Red (say it with me: ooooooh). But nothing else about the little player has changed: capacity remains 1GB, price remains $79.

Of course, the big question remains: does that makes these 2.5G shuffles? iPod shuffle colors? The nomenclature just gets more difficult everytime.

Update: Engadget points out that the new shuffles come with the revamped earbuds featured in the 2G nanos and 5.5G iPods, finally.

DarthMac needs a black one, I don't think pink is an appropriate colour for me either.

Think of a Tangerine Macbook... that would be sweet.

I dunno, after the 5G iPod they came out with Black and White macbooks. Why not a Tangerine.

Hmm... you know, I must admit that I've never thought of the idea of offering Shuffles in different colors, but now that they are, I must say that they look quite nice...

The colors are very cool, although I think that Apple should have released them before the Holidays.

Apple also released the Airport Extreme 802.11n Enabler for the rumored $2.00+Tax.

It's available as a download from the Apple Store at: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa?productLearnMore=D4141ZM/A

Well, if nothing's changed other than the color...then...iPod Shuffle 2G still.

Well, anyway, that's how I think it should go. If you really want to show off your color, then you could just say "my orange iPod Shuffle," etc.

aaaaw... i have been saying they should release colored shuffles since they released the second gen :P i even sent apple two emails about it, one before and onr after the holiday season lol

i'm glad to see they heard me (but of course i can't say it aloud, because i had to agree that my ideas are owned by apple if i submitted it to them)

There's never going to be a Product Red Shuffle. You really think they're gonna donate $10 of something that costs $79 to begin with? And changing the donation to something like $5 just makes them look like pikers.
