It appears that the iPod classic may be running into a few glitches, courtesy of its brand new user interface. A reader pointed us to a discussion thread on Apple’s site where some owners of the 6G iPod have reported issues with the devices restarting regularly, and intermittently freezing. One of the participants has actually chronicled his problems with the classic on YouTube, showing the classic freezing and rebooting itself.
At the moment, the suggestion seems to be that the issue has something to do with cover art. Some users have said that disabling all artwork syncing seems to solve the crashing problem for now. A software fix from Apple is supposedly in the works; I’d expect to see a nice firmware upgrade in the next week or so, probably sooner rather than later.

I haven't had any problems with my black 80gb yet... Though while I was in the Apple store, I would frequently get this (I tested it on multiple iPods.):
Start playing a song,
Go back to coverflow view,
start scrolling through, and if you go long enough, say more than 1 second of scrolling, the music would start skipping horribly!
My friend standing next me tried it, but it wasn't doing it on all of them...
Yep, mine just refuses to show album art for some songs, at random... I know the album art for them is there, because I can go in and play the same song later, and the album art shows up. Hopefully the update they're coming out with soon will fix it.
I'm thinking about getting an iPod classic.
Are these problems unique to it or appear on all the new iPods?
