International iPod prices take a dive

iPod pricesSeems that while those of us in the states didn’t have much to crow about this week, our international friends were reaping the sweet, sweet benefits of price drops on the iPod classic and iPod nano. iLounge reports that prices in Spain, France, Germany, and Italy have seen cuts to the tune of roughly €10 on the 4GB and 8GB nano models and between €10 and €20 on the 80GB and 160GB iPod classics.

Likewise, it appears that the price cuts have gone into effect in Canada as well, with nanos and classics running about CAD$10 cheaper. Apple products usually run at a higher price outside the US, but with the recent currency fluctuations in the US dollar, those disparities have recently become more pronounced. It seems likely that this is an attempt by Apple to bring those prices more into line with where they were previously (there’s still, for example, about a $10 difference buying an iPod in Canada vs. the US).

I know we’ve got a fair assortment of international readers out there: what do you say to this? Good news, or too little too late?

It's certainly appreaciated, as normally, Apple only adjusts its international prices when they upgrade a product.

Prime example: the MacBook, until last week's refresh, was $1250 CAD (versus 1100 USD). It's now $1150 CAD.

I am from Italy, where AppleTV is 299 euros (in the US is $ 229 = 150 euros), how about cutting the price of that!!!

What about this -
MacBook Air price in Slovakia is 62,500 Slovak Koruna including 19 percent VAT. That's 2,950 dollars.

I just bought an 80g Classic for a little over 160 euros on a trip to the States. Even with the 20 euro reduction they still cost 229 here. Much cheaper to buy in the States. Remember though that the European prices include VAT (in Italy this is 20%).
