Although I do love the redesigned 2G iPod shuffle, and it certainly did win a design award, the feature I miss most from the original iPod shuffle is the built in USB connection. It loses that instant grab-and-go functionality, and the ability to be successfully used as a flash drive.
Marware, however, seeks to remedy my complaint with their USB Travel Dock for the iPod shuffle, which started shipping today. You regain the USB functionality, while sacrificing a bit of space and a stream-lined device. Oh, and then there’s the fact that the USB Travel Dock will run you $20, which, at a quarter of the price of a shuffle, ain’t cheap.
