I’ve been carrying a 3G iPod nano around with me for the last several weeks, and while I mainly use it to listen to music, I’ve been impressed with the quality of the video on its tiny screen. I don’t think I’d want to watch Lawrence of Arabia on it, but it’s handy for the occasional clip or music video.
Every once in a while, though, I want to show off some video to friends, which the small size of the screen makes difficult. Of course, you could buy the somewhat pricey video cables and carry them around with you, but what about those times when you’re not near a TV? Instructables user tanntraad comes to your aid with instructions for building an iPod projector out of some cardboard, mirrors, and lenses.
The resulting projector needs a truly dark room to work well, and your quality won’t be fantastic (you’ll also need some speakers if you want to have sound), but it’s still a pretty nifty little contraption. And besides, it fits perfectly with my life philosophy: why buy what you can make yourself out of cardboard?
