Have you given any thought to where you’ll be in exactly 24 days? If you haven’t, then perhaps it’s time to start. 24 days from now on June 11th the iPhone will officially be launched, which means you may want to be somewhere buying one. Well, at least that’s how Apple feels.
If you happen to agree with this sentiment, then you’re in luck, because the iPhone will be sold at over 2,000 retail locations in the United States. Ron Johnson, Apple’s retail chief, along with Tom Boger, director of marketing, told an analyst that these locations would consist exclusively of Apple and AT&T retail stores. No big surprise there. The analyst was also told that Apple is trying to make the iPhone stand out from other cellular devices by improving all areas of the user experience, including those at the sales counter. Does this mean free candy?
I wonder if there will be lines of people waiting for Apple/AT&T stores to open up?
Also, is it official that June 11th is the launch date?
june 11th? i didn't know there was an official launch date? is that the official date?
what i want to know, is are we going to have to camp outside of our respective at&t/apple store the night of the 10th or will there be a more civilized way to get these bad boys? cuz lord knows there won't be enough of these puppies to go around (especially the 8 gig versions).
any thoughts?
I suppose that saying June 11th is the official launch date may be a bit inaccurate. The 11th is the day Steve delivers his keynote, so I suppose the iPhone will be officially announced and demoed there. We probably wont see the iPhone actually in stores for at least a few days after the keynote, I would suppose.
i am from the Philippines, can i use iphone for phone calls and internet,
My good friend who works at Apple promised me he would have one shipped to me for free on the day its released. Although it won't be much use to me.
June 11th has never been officially stated by anyone who speaks for Apple as a launch date for the iPhone. It's being assumed in some corners of the Mac web, but the latest that any of us actually know is that AT&T sent a memo to employees stating that no one gets vacation between June 15-25th. That's it.
IMHO, if I were a developer at the World Wide *Developer's* Conference, I'd be pretty soar if a device that Apple has stated I can't develop for stole the show. The developers conference is for developers, Mac OS X and the occasional PowerMac/Mac Pro release - rarely for other consumer, and especially not ones that I (as a make-believe developer) can't touch.
I thought the shipping date had been delayed to 26th of June, since Apple used to release new product on Tuesdays
