We knew it was coming. Here it is in all its glory. Update: Or watch the official version.
While absolutely appropriate for the Oscars, it’s not quite like Apple’s other advertising campaigns, containing a series of film clips. It doesn’t talk up the product. It doesn’t even give a URL. “Hello” really does work as a tagline. Inside Your Head by Eberg is a nice touch, but nearly inaudible.
The only question left is which clip (or movie it was derived from) was your favorite? I’m claiming The Big Lebowski (no, not on iTunes shockingly) for myself.

mine would be Marty McFly getting the call from Doc in midnight: is this a hint that iPhone will have miniaturized flux capacitor built-in?
There are two things that are cool about the ad. First, the Oscars often does a montage like the ad does, and since the iphone ad was the first commercial of the show, it seemed like it was part of the show until you saw the iphone. That was awesome.
Second, the first thing the Mac said to the world was "Hello".
It was extremely cool if you watched it in context of the show.
Please kill me now if this is the most interesting thing that we have to talk about in the Mac/Apple world at this time. It's stuff like this that almost makes me wants Jobs to be arrested over the stock options issue just to give us something substantive to discuss rather than the merits of a teaser advertisement.
zoolander was the best.
The one and only time I watched the Oscars, on the premis of an iPhone commercial. I want those four hours of my life back. Or maybe just a discount on the iPhone. "If you watched the Oscars to view our commercial, check here to receive 25% off your first iPhone order."
Gotta go with the hot Stone Age babe. Seriously.
(Who says this is the most important thing to discuss? All it is is the most recent. Geez.)
Well, we can talk about that commercial or we can talk about the 84 different projected dates for a Leopard announcement.
I thought the ad was way classy, much classier than the stupid "Wow" ads for Vista, and yes, Kelmon, this is a Mac blog; we're supposed to be drooling all over ourselves after the latest Apple ad.
Oh, and I especially liked that the last "hello" was from (Steve's) Pixar's "The Incredibles."
