John Mayer, the traitor

John Mayer Those of you at the MWSF 2007 keynote, or avidly reading through live updated pages like ours, may recall that John Mayer closed out the event with a performance. He was center stage (ok, off to the right stage) at the announcement of the iPhone. It made me think that John was sweet on Apple and the iPhone. It looks like I was drastically wrong.

Just got an advance of the Blackberry Curve… I guess you could say I’m ahead of the… Nevermind.

How could you betray us like that? I thought we had something special. Now we find out you’re willing to slum it with a Blackberry. It may very well be the best Blackberry yet, but it’s no iPhone. You know that. It won’t have multi-touch. And just think, you may just make Steve cry.

Remember.. the blackberry is a proven technology product while the iphone has yet to be released.. One hopes it has the connective-ness of a blackberry with the cache and even easier ease of use that Apple's products usually bring to the table.. :-)

Yeah... but John probably goes through a dozen phones every year and will probably be one of the first to catch a glipse of using the iPhone also. I mean, come on, the guy is probably one of the richest musicians out there right now and will probably buy one for both his right and his left hands. Give the guy a break.

For as much as he was probably paid...damn near anyone would jump on stage and be a fanboy.

John Mayer isn't just paid to like Apple. He is an Apple fan. If you read his blog, he posts stuff about Apple occasionally. He even wrote one about Chax one time. He has an Apple sticker on one of his guitars that he plays in concert with.

Ah, but he needed a new phone. So he goes with a Blackberry. Not a bad choice, really. Granted, an iPhone may be better, but it's not out yet. $500 is likely nothing to him, so he could buy it whenever, if he wanted it. Also, why wouldn't Apple offer him one for free? I'm sure they will, eventually. I know that Justin Long of the Mac commercials gets free stuff all the time, as I read in his blog.

Why'd you call him traitor, it's ok.

Stop polarizing people who love technology, the iPhone is nothing but a "phone" used to call people. This post is like its a cure for cancer.

Are you kidding? This post IS a cure for cancer.

I just made signs to go protest the sale of his album at Walmart. I suggest all of you follow suit. Tomorrow I plan on picketing.
