iPhone arrives on June 29

Posted by Derik DeLong | Sunday, June 03, 2007 5:25 PM PT

iPhone Arrival Date Apple has released some new iPhone ads. Word on the street is that at least one of them aired during 60 Minutes tonight. It’s a TV show. It has Andy Rooney. He’s an old comedian. Oh, never mind, none of you will know what I’m talking about. Anyway, the important part is that at the end of the ads, it quite clearly states that the iPhone is coming June 29. Apple’s cutting it a bit close, don’cha think?

We finally know the day. Within moments we’ll have about 100 Dashboard widgets to countdown to the exact moment. Apple zealots across the nation will begin holding their collective breaths. Millions of Treos and Windows Mobile Smartphones will begin to weep in fear.

Anyhoo, June 29th. Prepare yourself and your wallet. We still have no word on how much the plans will cost, but at least we know the latest date it’ll take to find out.

Also, the ads are on Apple's site. Another thing to keep in mind is that in the commercials it states that you HAVE to sign up to a 2 year att plan. So we get the greatest phone ever made but we pay a nice fee + 2 years of slavery in the hands of att. Ouch! Voluntary slavery is the best slavery of all. :)

Cingular has always been a great company for my cell phone needs.

Jun 29. I want it now.

I want it last week. I've been at a conference and having this iphone would have made my life a lot easier!

AT&T is really exploiting this 5 year deal with Apple. No worry, its "hardware" plus "software" someone will hack it so you can use it with other networks. Just a matter of getting one.

why do we not have any information on the plans they'll offer? cell phone companies normally have fixed plans thru their phone options... it doesn't change based on the phone u purchase...

Well, not the date I was hoping for, but a date nonetheless. When Apple says “end of June” they mean the last business day of June. With my travel plans already in order, that's one day prior to them. I called 2 of my local ATT stores. One store is getting 6 units, and they aren't taking a list. Another store is expecting to receive 10 units, and my name is on a list of “people they'll call when they come in,” but not necessarily hold one for me. Either way, I expect to be there that day to try and get one. If not, my travels begin the next day, and they will take me by 3 or 4 Apple Stores along the way, and the gods know how many ATT stores there will be along the way too. If I haven't picked one up by the time I return, I will just order one from the online Apple Store. Either way, come end of July, Hello iPhone!

but did you hear about the new AT&T ceo this weekend? wasn't that guy who showed up at the iPhone keynote the old CEO. i have a feeling that maybe they got rid of him because of how not-iphone like he looked. :)
