One of the more unfortunate changes in the iPhone as compared to its non-Phone iPod brethren is its lack of a disk mode. I like to turn it on with all my iPods so I can throw the occasional document on there. It’s great for holding a few choice passwords in case I forget them on the road. The iPhone is a black box that only iTunes has a flashlight to look inside of.
I’m thrilled that the guys at Ecamm have developed iPhoneDrive. It has a Finder-like interface for moving files on and off your phone. It won’t help you access that data when connected to a Windows machine which defeats some of the utility I’ve become accustomed to, but it’s a great start. At $9.95 including free upgrades for life, it’s a cost effective way to restore a feature that Apple should have built in to begin with.
