Over on this side of the pond, it’s customary to slam something after you’ve had a chance to, you know, actually hold and use the device in your hands. It’s another thing entirely to slam it by just reading the spec sheet.
Daily Mail: “But does it live up to the hype? As a phone, the answer is ‘no’.”
Sure, it’s possible that the iPhone won’t live up to the hype. But it’s also possible that the entire MacUser team could get struck by lightning today. Simultaneously.

MacUser is your source for news, info, and opinion about Apple, the Mac, and the iPod. Our dedicated team of bloggers covers everything that is relevant to Mac users — and, okay, some stuff that’s not quite relevant, but is still a lot of fun.
On this side of the pond?
Oh please, give me a break. You could find enough people in the States to fill Britain shore to shore who already dislike the iPhone, for whatever reason.
Thanks for epitomising the journalistic credibility of an entire nation on the basis of one DAILY MAIL article.
The Daily Mail can't hate it that much. They haven't said it will cause house prices to fall, bring more asylum seekers to the UK or, worst or all, caused the death of princess Diana. Virtually every other bad thing in the universe is linked to these three stories.
Ouch...
I'm on "this side of the pond", although not in the US, and I think Chris is right.
There are plenty of sources here that have slammed the iPhone before trying it.
I really think, you should apologize.
Guys, it was a joke.
Do you honestly believe that I'm "epitomising the journalistic credibility of an entire nation on the basis of one DAILY MAIL article" ?
He said "pond" not "ocean". For all we know Cyrus is in England, but on the other side of a pond from the Daily Mail headquarters.
Well, now we understand why they recommend to avoid ironic tone in e-mails...
"There are plenty of sources here that have slammed the iPhone before trying it."
There are just as many sites that have praised the iPhone before even trying it as well (like this one, for instance) and the praise is just as hollow as the condemnation.
I agree George, but this specific post talked about slamming, not praising.
It proves to show one more time: "Irrelevant, you will be assimilated!". The Borg or in his case, Apple and the blogging community...
