If you’ve seen every video available on YouTube, perhaps it’s time to turn your attention to the nine new international versions: Brazil; France; Italy; Japan; the Netherlands; Poland; Spain; Ireland; and the UK. The new websites, announced at a June 19 press conference in Paris, were the result of numerous user requests, according to Google’s blog. Two of YouTube’s founders, Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, were on hand for the announcement.
Not only is each new domain fully translated for the local country, but you can switch between them and the original YouTube site by clicking the flag icon in the top right-hand corner of YouTube’s home page, next to the “Country” label. The localized sites use Google search technology as well. I’m curious to find out if these new local sites will also be available on the Apple TV.
