My Dream App comes to life

Posted by Aaron Freedman | Monday, August 21, 2006 4:54 AM PT

Dreamapp OK, once again it’s not my dream app, but you get the idea. My Dream App, the same project I talked about on Saturday, has finally come into being. Just in case you forgot, My Dream App is a project in which ordinary people like you can submit an idea for a Mac app, and if it’s the winning idea as selected from a panel of judges, a team of Mac software developers will make it for you, and you’ll get 15% of the net profits from sales of your app. Sounds pretty cool, right? Well, it gets even better. if you idea makes the top-24, you can win a variety of prizes depending on when (if ever) you get eliminated, including an iPod Shuffle, an iPod Nano, a video iPod, a Mac Mini, and a MacBook. Entry submissions have already started, and will end at noon PT on August 30th. Entries have to be at maximum 500 characters long, and will be judged on creativity, integration with OS X and Leopard features, feasibility for making the app, and “mass-market appeal.” You have to be 18 years old or older to participate, but if you’re a minor like me, you can have an over-18-year-old enter your idea for you.

"ordinary people like you"

My mother always told me I was far from ordinary.

Ordinary, meaning you're not a Mac software developer, in this context.
