More MobileMe coverage, people. It’s the hottest topic right now, apart from the iPhone, and the Internet’s little buzzing bees are hard at work writing MobileMe honey. Or something like that.
First up, we have a petition to bring back iCards, a .Mac feature that didn’t make the transition to MobileMe without tearing up many, or so we thought. Apparently, some users considered them-and I quote from one of the petition’s signatures-”AN ABSOLUTE MUST-HAVE !!”. If such is your opinion, you can join the 159 people that have signed the petition at the time of writing.
Second, we’re glad to hear that Apple has acknowledged accidently charging users that signed up for a free MobileMe trial. TG Daily (which originally reported the story) received the following from Cupertino:
“Apple worked quickly to identify and resolve an issue that caused an incorrect temporary hold when certain new accounts - including yours - were created. […] Within the next few days, the MobileMe engineering team will contact you by email to provide more information about how this matter will be resolved.”
But would they be called meCards now?
Seriously though, HUH?!?!?!?
Create some OS X Mail stationery to emulate the format and get on with your lives. A web page to turn some text into a graphic alongside some clip art is exactly the sort of thing that can die a quiet and dignified web death.
GROUPS!
They've cancelled the megaUSEFUL Groups!
Bring it back!
Macworld - please start another petition :-)
iCards - useful but I agree with pdk above
but Groups - no can do DIY
Is this ANOTHER EXAMPLE of Apple & Jobs effectively charging MORE for LESS??
Thanks for your help! :-)
