MobileMe, mo’ problems

Mo' problemsAh, MobileMe. You look a little down. What’s wrong?

The new online service, which has certainly had its share of transition issues, isn’t out of the woods quiet yet. Some users are reporting issues with getting their MobileMe mail—issues that have apparently made it as far as the (web) pages of the Wall Street Journal and elsewhere. Checking online, the MobileMe status page (which you can view on the right column of the Account page at me.com) says that 1% of MobileMe’s users cannot access their mail.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a concrete idea of how many people are using MobileMe, but if it’s even 500,000 (which is a conservative guess), that would mean that upwards of 5,000 people can’t reach their email right now. Ouch.

Readers, chime in: have you had trouble getting to your MobileMe email lately?

I'm good. Still feels a little sluggish, but my email is working fine for me.

I really wish they had taken their time with this change of web applications. This is not good for their reputation. In fact, this looks, smells and tastes like Microsoft. I'm embarrassed for them.

I have not been able to send or receive email through MobileMe for more than two days, with no hope in sight!

Mobile me? No, i MMOBILE sounds great: incapable of moving or being moved.
All of that just to change a name ? Oh man...

The "push" feature doesn't seem to be working for me at all. I've yet to have any mail "push"ed to my phone. But other than that the I've had no troubles with the email.

No MobileMe email since Friday for me, either via desktop Mac or iphone. What's really frustrating is the lack of info coming from Apple. If they would be forthcoming about what is wrong and when it might be fixed, we would be more understanding.

I haven't been able to receive my MobileMe mail since sometime early Friday. The web interface for MobileMe mail is non-functional for me as well, even though the rest of the service works. Here I thought I'd evaded all the problems when nothing much went wrong for me at launch time, but in fact the apology e-mail from Apple over that fiasco was one of the last messages I received. I wish they'd tell us what's wrong beyond saying engineering is "still working hard to resolve this issue." Silence just makes it feel more frustrating than the situation already does.

mobileme worked for about 4 days, then since 7/17 evening, i have had no service for mail; calendar/contacts works fine. my frustration has led me back to gmail!

Maybe the real reason Apple changed the name of the service is because they didn't want something so poorly run named Mac on it :-O

I didn't realize that MobileMe offered email - that would be a real added bonus if they can get that to work...

I haven't been able to access my Mobile Me account since last Friday.
So much for new technology. This is now frustrating.

No problems with mine either sending or receiving. I have also auto-forwarded my own domain's mail to my MobileMe.

The only "problem" I've had with push is that I posted a comment to a popular Macworld forum. My phone buzzed a dozen times while I was in Hellboy II. That and redownloads. I keep reading and deleting messages only to have them reappear soon after as new unread messages. The webmail app often shows lots of messages that I have long since deleted. No problems sending or receiving though.

I haven't had email since Friday morning and the so-called support is probably the most insulting thing I have ever experienced with a company of this size.

Mail on my new iPhone works this morning (UK time) but doesn't work on either my iMac or via MobileMe online...

I guess I'm in that 1% of users who can't get their email online or with mail.app. Humbug. Until now, the whole thing had been humming along quite pleasantly. FYI, I'm in Europe, not sure if that makes the slightest bit of difference though.

well, its time to bring up the ole debate - mobileme aint so hot anyway. there are much better offerings out there which:-

-let you synch personal info (like mobileme)
-let you SHARE info
-have no outages

one great solution is http://iphone.hyperoffice.com

dot mac has always been rock solid for me... until last week. I haven't been able to receive mac.com email since the early morning hours of 7-18-08. As of this writing, still nothing.

I'm having to switch to another email as my primary address.

Something must be in really bad shape to cause this!

MobileMe is working for me but on a 1.4GHz G4 mini it just C R A W L S...
Horridly slow and makes Safari use over 95% of my little CPU's cycles wheneve it's -doing something- like changing folder views or displaying a message. Generally takes about 20 seconds to display a message or perform any other function which requires a display change. Quite unacceptable. Trying to accomplish same from an older 867 MHz G4 tower using Firefox 2 is a bit quicker but still tests my patience.

It's a real tard' compared to the previous web-based mail but it worked fine all thru the transition using my POP client.

- not happy with it in Edmonton AB

I left Microsoft to avoid crap like Mobile.Me (What 12 year-old thought of that idiotic, juvenile, self-centered name?) Apple has really screwed me over with this mess and they couldn't care less. If I get "I'm sorry" one more time I may go postal. Sorry doesn't mean s..t if you keep doing what you're doing. I have a Mac period - I can't afford any of the toys. It seems as though the toy owners are the only ones who matter to good ole Steve these days. In addition, to all of the above, they pretended for days that everything was just fine, so in addition to being Bill Gates clones, they're liars. Good-bye Mobile.Me!

I tried to read my mail this morning and my new mail is showing it to be from one party but when I click on it the text is from a totally different email. (ie: I get an email from Sue with a subject of "Great news from our family" and when I click on it, the body contains info from a totally different email I rec'd from Sephora about a great sale they are having. So very weird.
