In the fine tradition of anonymous bloggers everywhere, the Macalope has announced his intentions to sell out. El Macalopo, the finest blogging half-man, half-Mac, half-antelope around, has accepted an offer to blog for CNet, in return for, well, whatever it is that Macalopes eat (small bugs? 128k floppies?).
On his own blog (which appears to be sticking around for now), the horny one defends his decision:
This is a great opportunity for this mythical beast to gain a higher profile and, well, start making a little scratch for his troubles. According to the agreement, CNET bloggers retain responsibility for their content so you should not suddenly start seeing a bunch of puff pieces about how awesome companies that just happen to be CNET advertisers are.Of course, it wasn’t so long ago that the community’s other identity-challenged pundit, Fake Steve Jobs, went down this road with Wired—a deal which by all appearances was terminated somewhat abruptly last week.
We wish Mr. M better luck with the CNet folks, though we worry—as Macalope himself does—about the integrity of any company that also employs his arch-rival yOu-know-who. No, not Voldemort.
half-man, half-Mac, half-antelope
Hm. Dubious math. ;-)
The Macalope, by his very nature, defies our petty conventional mathematics.
CNET is anti-mac and love pushing out the FUD about Mac any chance they get.
